Rain, Rain, And More Rain

G'Day Folks,

The past few weeks has seen a persistent pattern of showers, and the forecast for the next seven days promises even more. The ground is saturated, our vegetables are barely holding on, and those that do survive are stunted, producing far less than usual.

We haven’t been able to prepare new ground, weed, or plant any new crops—everything has come to a halt.

Thankfully, we still have two to three weeks’ worth of veggies that were planted months ago, which should carry us through for a little while. But beyond that, we’re likely to see a significant gap in supply from our farm. With winter approaching and the days growing shorter, even if the rain does stop and the ground dries out, most farmers along the east coast will struggle to produce a decent crop over the coming months; most won't have anything decent until Spring. Cold and short days slow everything down.

But it’s not all doom and gloom.

We’re incredibly fortunate to be part of a wide-reaching network of organic farmers across this vast country. While the east coast is waterlogged, other areas—particularly to our southwest—are experiencing drought-like conditions. While they pray for rain, we pray for it to stop. That’s Australia: a land of extremes.

The sun will shine again. In the meantime, we’re turning our focus to long-overdue jobs on the farm—those “one day” tasks that now have their chance. And behind the scenes, we’re in ongoing conversations with people we believe could take SoHip forward, to keep this amazing community well-fed with the freshest, chemical-free food each week. That said, there’s no rush—we’ll be here until the end of the year, continuing to serve you and your families just as we always have.

To think that we were once told “there’s not enough people who want organic food on the Mid North Coast”, and now we’ve built a thriving community together—with you. Yes, with you, because this has always been a team effort. Many of you who hadn’t eaten organic before are now fully immersed in this way of living. You’ve spread the word, brought your friends along, and helped this grow into something truly special.

We’re seeing more and more people not just eating nutrient-dense, chemical-free food, but understanding why it matters. From farm visits to newsletters, from social media to conversations at your front door, we’ve all gone on this journey together—toward better food, healthier soil, and a deeper respect for the land.

And for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

P.s. thank you for the kind messages and emails over the past weeks and months. I’ll be replying to them as soon as I can. Your feedback truly means a lot to us, and I especially love reading the ones filled with the same passion we pour into this newsletter each week.

Thank YOU for joining us on this epic journey & supporting Your local farmer!
